Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 2026
At DocScan, we take the confidentiality and privacy of your personal and professional documents seriously. This Privacy Policy describes how information is handled when you access and use our website and online document scanner tool.
1. Core Privacy Principle: Local Browser Processing
We do not upload, collect, store, or view your document images.
The document scanning tool provided on DocScan executes entirely on your device via client-side web technologies (HTML5 Canvas API, WebAssembly, and JavaScript). When you upload a photo, snap a document using your camera, crop corners, apply filters, or download a PDF, all processing occurs inside your device's browser memory.
At no point during the scanning workflow are your document files or photos transmitted across the internet to our web servers, third-party cloud processors, or artificial intelligence APIs.
2. Camera Access and Device Permissions
If you choose to use the Open Camera feature, your browser will prompt you for permission to access your device's camera. Camera frames are streamed exclusively into a local HTML5 video element on your screen to allow you to snap a picture. Camera feeds are never recorded, streamed, or stored remotely. You can revoke camera permissions at any time through your browser's site settings.
3. Information We Collect Automatically
Like most standard web hosting environments (such as Hostinger shared hosting), our web server automatically logs routine technical connection information when requests are made to load static website assets (such as HTML pages, CSS styles, JavaScript bundles, or icons). These standard server access logs may include:
- Your Internet Protocol (IP) address;
- Browser type, version, and operating system;
- Referring URL and requested page path;
- Timestamp of the request.
These logs are used solely for server performance monitoring, preventing malicious abuse, and diagnosing technical errors. They do not contain and cannot be linked to any documents processed in your browser.
4. Cookies and Local Storage
DocScan does not require user accounts, logins, or tracking cookies to operate the document scanner. If third-party advertising partners (such as Google AdSense) or web analytics providers are integrated in the future, they may use cookies or web beacons to deliver relevant advertisements and analyze aggregate website traffic in accordance with their respective privacy policies.
5. External Scripts and CDN Resources
To provide fast, reliable, and secure functionality, our website may load standard open-source web libraries and Google Fonts. These resources are loaded over secure HTTPS connections.
6. Third-Party Links
Our website may contain links to external websites for reference or informational purposes. We have no control over the privacy practices or content of third-party websites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.
7. Children's Privacy
Our service is a general-purpose online utility and does not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.
